Did preg. checks this month and results were pretty good from fall breeding. Last calf came and am really glad not to be checking for calves anymore. All seem to be doing fine.
Went to the Remington Park Futurity trials early in the month and got very blessed and got two in the finals. Always glad for a payday of some kind. Both are nice horses and will be interesting if maybe a little nail biting to see how we come out.
Made only one cattle sale this month, due to family stuff. Our daughter and her family rented a cabin down in southern Oklahoma for Easter weekend and invited the whole family to come. That turned out really well..good family time and got to find Easter eggs with all three grand girls.
Spent some time setting up donors in the later part of the month and was happy with the results. Set up a twelve year old as her calves ratio really well and she is the last of her cow family line I have so wanted to see if I could get some more. Hey we got 9 eggs and thought that was pretty good. Put a few in the recips on first go round so will see how we do.
Got the last of the yearlings ultra sounded. Chad was nice and came back to do the heifers as didn't think they were quite ready when we did bulls last time so waited a month as we had time. Very pleased with how things worked out and a few of the girls are exceptional.
Well we went to the finals for the Remington Park Futurity and we WON! What a blast, the horses name is First Prize Leesa, she did a great job and are very proud of her. Our other horse CR Sugar N Spice took third so it was a very good night indeed and the trip home from OKC seemed very short that night.
Its still raining here. Hopefully its going to quit sometime soon.

April News 2009
March is at an end, it came in like a lion and weather went out like a lion also. I think it was supposed to come in like a lion and go out like a lamb. We finally got some moisture in our area that we had been needing, as was a pretty dry winter.
We even got some snow and finished with about 4 inches of rain. Finally the grass is starting to grow so are putting out less hay. We are on the downhill slide of calves and haven’t had too many problems, only a few left to come so will cross our fingers that we don’t run into any big problems.
Did a bit of traveling across the state to sales, they seem to be going pretty well, most people I talked to are happy with how they were doing.
We got six of our bulls sold at the OBI sale and I am grateful to the people that bought the guys and all the interest shown this year. Our bulls sold over the average at the sale, so was very pleased that we participated in the event at OBI.
I went to OKC for the Angus heifer show was amazed at the number of kids and people involved and how the show went.
Ed went hunting again for pheasant seems to enjoy it even if it different than how we went as kids and growing up. Think I’ve got more than enough birds so if anyone ones some give me a holler.
Flushed cows this month and got good results, our vet Clint Gardner with Pryor Vet Hospital does us a great job and we like him to boot.
Had the grand girls out on a nice day so all three got to ride ole Sugar, they love it and is good for the old gal. Bonus is it wears everyone out and they take a nice long nap.
I even went trail riding this month with a bunch of gals, on Sheila and David Bond’s place. Some of the ladies ride in those fancy pants but had fun and seemed like a great bunch of people, if time allows will try another one and was good for ole Bugs and I to do something other than work cattle. Had a friend pick me up to go so Robbie thought I was riding on the place, said he was waiting until dark then gonna call me and see if everything was alright. Glad to know people worry a little bout me.
